THE son of a notorious Sydney crime boss allegedly bashed a man with an axe before he and his girlfriend kidnapped him in the boot of a car.
He lured a man to a home before hitting him with an axe over a pokie winnings dispute, according to police.
The 25-year-old man’s right tricep was sliced open, his foot and hand badly cut during the alleged attack over a pokie winnings dispute in the Hornsby home on June 22.
Police allege the victim, who fought back after initially being struck, was then bundled into a boot of a car and driven 30kms into Sydney’s CBD.
When the Holden Commodore stopped at a Shell service station on South Dowling St, Waterloo, the bloodied victim managed to open the boot and run 150 metres to the nearby Vista Grande Meriton apartment block.
He spent two days in St Vincent’s Hospital after undergoing surgery and lost an artery and a tendon in one finger.
As police launched an investigation into the attack, they found the vehicle, which was not stolen, dumped in Surry Hills.
Now, police have charged Tony Vincent Jnr, 49, and his girlfriend Asha Baverstock, 24, over the alleged attack.
Vincent Jnr is the son of “Teflon” Tony Vincent, 75, the mastermind of a failed $150 million bank swindle, who spent three years for his part in the botched crime.
Vincent Jnr, was arrested on June 30 at Strathfield train station after failing to produce a ticket while allegedly smoking when spoken to by Police Transport Officers.
On Wednesday Baverstock was arrested at a Redfern unit.
The pair has both been charged with wound person with intent to cause grievous bodily harm and take/detain in company.
