Coronavirus NSW: Police officer entered hotel quarantine room

A NSW Police constable, and one of his close contacts, have been sent into self-isolation after entering the hotel room of a returned international traveller in quarantine.

These are the strict new rules for summer in NSW

A NSW Police officer and one of their close contacts have been forced to self isolate after entering a man’s room in hotel quarantine.

The constable, who is attached to Operation Corona Virus, entered the room of a man who was undergoing mandatory quarantine after arriving on an international flight.

After the constable left he room he stayed at the hotel for a short time before returning to a police station to complete his shift.

He has since been told to self-isolate at home, along with a close contact, and monitor symptoms. The pair will be tested for COVID-19.

The male traveller had undergone testing before arriving in Australia and was not carrying the virus.

In a brief statement NSW Police said they are “working with NSW Health to ensure all close contacts are tested for COVID-19, monitored, and remain in isolation”.
