PARRAMATTA Eels star Corey Norman seemed untroubled yesterday as claims emerged he sent video of an elderly man apparently snorting cocaine to other NRL players.
It’s understood the claims centre on video sent via the SnapChat smartphone app.
Norman appeared in good spirits yesterday as he trained with his Eels teammates.
The video of the man snorting a white substance was being offered for sale along with a video that features Norman performing a sex act on a naked woman while pouring beer on her. It is claimed Norman sent the video of the older man to several friends, including NRL players.
Former Penrith Panthers hooker James Segeyaro is understood to be in the background of the video that features the sex act.
Parramatta officials are keen to interview Norman about the videos and it is understood the club will issue the star with a breach notice for his behaviour.
The five-eighth will front court today on drugs possession charges after he was allegedly found with capsules on him at The Star casino in May.
While the video has not appeared in the public domain, Norman could be fined by Parramatta if he was found to have shared the separate video of the elderly man.
The Daily Telegraph does not suggest Norman or Segeyaro took part in any illegal activity.
Former Warriors centre Konrad Hurrell was fined $5000 in 2014 after a Snapchat video of him involved in a sex act was shared on social media. It would be open to the Eels to adopt a similar punishment for Norman if he did forward the Snapchat video.
Parramatta club captain Tim Mannah said Norman would learn from his latest off-field setback.
“It’s a shame his private life is grabbing such attention and someone is seeking to make money out of something he’s done privately,’’ Mannah said.
“I’d like to think I’d know better. He’s got himself into a situation that’s not pleasant.
“He’s done a great job handling adversity this year, obviously there are other issues that could have derailed him a bit, but he’s done a great job to keep his mind on the job.
“He’s had all sorts of issues, he’s also been trying to sort his contract out. He’s been a very important part of our team this year.”
