Construction worker killed on NorthConnex site

POLICE and SafeWork NSW are investigating after a 65-year-old worker was killed while working on the NorthConnex project this morning.

A WORKER on the NorthConnex project has died in a site accident this morning.

Police and SafeWork NSW are investigating the 65-year-old’s death at the NorthConnex Wilson Rd compound.

It is understood he died after being struck in the head with a piece of equipment.

The man was trapped for a period of time and went into cardiac arrest when he was freed at the Pennant Hills site after 8am today, a NSW Ambulance spokesman said.

He was rushed to Westmead Hospital, where he later died.

Transport Minister Andrew Constance said he was “deeply saddened” by the “tragic workplace accident”.

“My sincere condolences are with his family and friends at this time,” he said.

“We will do everything we can to support SafeWork NSW and NSW Police in the investigations.”
