Sydney trains have been disrupted due to urgent train repairs at Green Square on Friday morning.

Passengers on the T8 Airport and South Line have been advised to allow for extra time following reports of smoke coming from a train on platform one at Green Square, near Mascot.

“We still have a train experiencing mechanical issues ahead of us,” a Sydney Trains worker told frustrated passengers stuck between Mascot and Green Square.

“There is a mechanic on site at the moment and we hope to be on our way shortly.”

Sydney Trains urged passengers to change their journeys.

“Allow extra travel time towards the City due to urgent train repairs at Green Square,” Sydney Trains said on X.

“Trains may be stopped at platforms or between stations for longer than normal.

“You may need to change at Central to continue your journey.”
