A former high profile member of the Comanchero has been charged with allegedly stealing a trolley from a Sydney storage facility.
Ali Bazzi, 43 — once one of Mark Buddle’s closest associates — was arrested by appointment in the CBD at 11.55am Wednesday by detectives from the NSW Criminal groups Squad.
He was also charged with breaching conditions imposed on him after the Supremec Court granted NSW Police a Serious Crime Prevention Order (SCPO) against Bazzi.
Police said as part of their ongoing operation into individuals with SCPO against them they became aware that Bazzi allegedly visited the Kennards Storage facility at Ultimo on January 29.
They claim he used a fictitious name during an interaction at the facility and also stole a removalist trolley worth $990.
“The Criminal Groups Squad apply for Serious Crime Prevention Orders very selectively to ensure the best protection of the public,” Detective Superintendent Grant Taylor, Criminal Groups Squad Commander saIid.
“These orders are in place for a reason and anyone who has such an order placed against them can be sure that if they do not take them seriously, they will end up on the wrong side of the prison wall.”
The Criminal Groups Squad is currently drafting several Serious Crime Prevention Orders against selected persons, who we believe require such an order to prevent, restrict and disrupt their involvement in serious crime related activities.
Bazzi was charged with three counts of contravene serious crime prevention order and larceny. He has been refused bail to appear in Central Local Court on Friday February 25.
