All of the available luxury apartments at a planned Coffs Harbour beachfront development have been snapped up in a heartbeat – smashing sales price records in the process.
The Wavelength tower on Ocean Pde didn’t even have to go to market in a traditional sense – a select group were given a private virtual showing of what was on offer.
All 10 of the apartments were sold within a week, fetching between $1.4 and $2.3m.
Seven of the units broke the sales record for an apartment at Park Beach – $1.65m at the Seashells complex.
Shane Hessenberger of Hess Property handled the Wavelength sales and said all of the units were snapped up by people from Coffs Harbour.
The off-the-plan apartments weren’t advertised in the usual way – Hess invited 11 prospects to an exclusive VIP day at the Hoey Moey Hotel.
There, the VIPs were fitted with 3D goggles and allowed to take a virtual tour of the futuristic hi-tech apartments.
“We just spoke to the people who we thought would be interested,” Mr Hessenberger said.
“Ten went to contract and they exchanged within a week.”
The clamour to secure a spot at Wavelength saw Hess Property do $18m worth of business in just one week.
Mr Hessenberger said he was not surprised by the strong demand.
He said Wavelength was “something special” because each apartment comprises an entire floor of the 13-storey build.
The penthouse remains the only unsold apartment, and it has been set aside for auction.
“Every unit has its own lobby, they are all four bedrooms and people can mix and match interiors to what they want,” Mr Hessenberger said.
Developer George Dowd from Urbancom – who also has projects on the go at Drummoyne, Townsville, Lane Cove and Tennyson Point – said Wavelength was designed to cater to people who “want to downsize, but also want space”.
“It’s not built for holiday accommodation. These are larger apartments that have space, with views from every space,” he said.
“We took the gamble and it paid off.”
Each apartment has its own solar system and electric vehicle charging point.
They also have ducted airconditioning and are loaded with smart devices, including ensuite windows which “frost” at the touch of a button to provide privacy.
“We’ve aimed for sustainability and technology and we plan to use legacy Coffs Harbour builders and tradesmen,” Mr Dowd said.
Wavelength is expected to be completed by late 2024.
