A woman was injured and treated by paramedics after taking a nasty fall at a notoriously treacherous polling booth at Nambucca Heads.
An ambulance was called after the woman - who had just voted in the Cowper federal election on Saturday - slipped and fell at about 8.40am on a steep uneven asphalt path at the entrance to the Nambucca Heads Public School.
Susan Jenvey was nearby, handing out how-to-vote leaflets for Labor, and saw the accident.
“She went down hard and her shoulder took the brunt of it,” Ms Jenvey said.
The early morning voter was helped by people at the gate, and rested in a chair until the ambulance arrived.
The school’s entrance is a notorious trip spot.
“You see people have trouble here all the time, let alone those with wheely walkers,” Ms Jenvey said.
“They’ve just got to be really careful.”
