Second teen charged after man found unconscious near pub

A man found unconscious on the footpath near a Coffs Harbour hotel has been flown to Prince Alfred Hospital in a critical condition. Police have now charged two teenagers. Here’s what is known.

A second teenager has been charged after a man was found unconscious - with a suspected fractured skull - on a footpath near a Coffs Harbour pub in the early hours of Sunday.

Emergency services were called to a licensed premise at about 2.30am on the Pacific Highway following reports a man had been assaulted.

Officers from Coffs/Clarence Police District found a 28-year-old unconscious man on a nearby footpath.

He was treated by NSW Ambulance paramedics before being taken to Coffs Harbour Base Hospital, and then flown to Royal Prince Alfred Hospital in Sydney.

The man remains in a critical condition.

A crime scene was established.

Just over an hour later officers were patrolling Shephards Lane when they stopped and arrested an 18-year-old man.

The teenager was taken to Coffs Harbour Police Station and charged with recklessly inflict grievous bodily harm.

He was refused bail and will appear in Coffs Harbour Local Court on Monday, July 4.

Following further inquiries, police arrested a second man at a home at Bonville at 12.10pm on Sunday.

The 19-year-old was taken to Coffs Harbour Police Station where he was charged with affray.

He was granted conditional bail to appear at Coffs Harbour Local Court on Wednesday July 27.
