A pet accommodation business on the Mid North Coast has been evicted from its premises after a dispute about the maintenance of the property.
Bec and Scott Williams, owners of Tarraray Pet Resort at Bonville, posted the eviction notice to social media and said the locks of the business had been changed.
Brisbane-based owner of the property Janine Glenn said she had tried “long-term negotiations” without success.
“We’ve tried legal mediation and our last option was eviction,” she said.
Attempts to contact Mr and Mrs Williams for their side of the story were unsuccessful at the time of publication.
“I’m heartbroken,” Ms Glenn said, explaining she built the resort back in the early 2000s before selling the business to the Williams’ who reside in the caretaker’s premises.
She said the pet accommodation was still operational but would undergo deep cleaning and maintenance works.
Ms Glenn has appointed a new manager, Melissa Griffiths, who grew up working in the resort before leaving for Brisbane where she managed Triple A pet accommodation.
“I’m absolutely mortified,” Ms Griffiths said.
“I’ve spent the last two days crying because the animals have had no beds.”
Ms Griffiths said many pet owners in the community viewed pets are their babies.
“A lot of people don’t have kids so they have their animals instead and they should be treated like family,” she said.
“I was here at 12-years-old setting it up so I know what it was like at the beginning and how beautiful it was so I’m back to bring it up to where it was.”
Both Ms Griffiths and Ms Glenn are working to get airconditioning working and some repairs underway as well as decluttering.
Meanwhile the Williams’ have until December 5 to leave the premises.
