SAWTELL-Toormina Saints continued their ladder-topping form by upstaging Coffs Harbour Breakers with a 166 point win in the local derby at Richardson Park.
With eight straight wins under their belts, the Saints have well and truly cemented themselves as favourites for the AFL North Coast premiership title.
The team has managed to keep up momentum amid early talk it already has the premiership in the bag.
Despite relentless wins, Saints coach Jim Angel said they knew better than to underestimate the third-placed Breakers in the lead up to the game.
"You still prepare ready for a big game and with one versus three you still come ready for a contest, "he said.
"Everybody's pretty focused and during the game, every quarter time and half time, we talk about keeping a lid on things.
"You know we'd be embarrassed if we didn't take it all the way to the end, so that keeps them going."
Breakers coach Jay Guthrie said the latest result was a disappointing chapter in what has been a tough year for the new club.
"We're disappointed in the result obviously but in respect to the Saints they're a good side," he said.
"We're just really building on what we started at the beginning of the year with two clubs merging as one.
"We knew it was going to be hard and just need to get through those teething issues and injuries.
"It's just a big opportunity for us to keep working."
