Influencer Sarah Mills, 36, had her assault and stalk and intimidate charges withdrawn at Coffs Harbour Local Court this morning (November 10) following more than a year of legal battles.
The social media personality was charged after an alleged incident at Subway Coffs Harbour in August last year.
UPDATE: Mills won a costs application on November 18, and as a result NSW Police were ordered to pay her $1500 dollars.
Speaking outside court this morning, her solicitor, Samir Banga from Sydney, said “the right thing has been done”.
He said the matter was withdrawn on the grounds that the prosecution case was “weak”.
“It’s the right outcome - allegations are just allegations,” Mr Banga said.
Mr Banga said Ms Mills experienced abuse online following the charges.
“On social media there were allegations of spitting,” he said, which were untrue.
Mr Banga said there was “argy bargy” with police regarding applying for a “costs application”.
“This is vindication for my client, she can walk away knowing the right thing has been done,” Mr Banga said.
Under the handle ‘Sarah Mills -among the stars’ on social media, Ms Mills has previously expressed strong views on breastfeeding, Covid vaccinations, the NSW floods and homelessness.
Ms Mills was brought to public attention after condemning mandatory vaccinations throughout the pandemic.
She kept her 300,000 followers on TikTok up-to-date with her legal battle.
In March, Ms Mills travelled to flood affected communities , uploading a number of strongly worded videos urging for more action to be taken.
