A Coffs Harbour police officer has been convicted and fined for unlawfully distributing intimate images of a woman without her consent.

The victim, who cannot be named, is shattered with the sentence which she says is nothing more than a slap on the wrist

In January, Glenn Paul Matthews was found guilty of six charges of distributing the images (videos) without her consent and was this week sentenced in Coffs Harbour Local Court.

For all six charges he was convicted and fined a total of just under $6,000.

The victim was bitterly disappointed to learn the outcome.

“I wanted to cry. He may still get to keep his job. I wouldn’t wish this upon anyone.”

She admits to a troubled past, battling an ice addiction and doing time in jail.

Getting involved with a violent criminal was also another huge mistake - and one that ultimately led to her involvement with police officer Glenn Paul Matthews.

The 44-year-old police officer was investigating her partner who was wanted in relation to a number of drug and theft-related matters in the Coffs Harbour region.

During the investigation and subsequent arrest of the victim’s partner Matthews came across the intimate images of the victim.

He later shared these videos with a number of other police officers.

The victim’s ex-partner is now behind bars and she is getting her life back on track but says the trauma of her treatment at the hands of Glenn Matthews will stay with her forever.

“And those photos - I never wanted to do them in the first place and then to be humiliated like this has been horrifying.

I don’t know who else he has shown or where they are now. My fear of law enforcement will never fade.“
