Police have charged a Coffs Harbour man for allegedly grooming a person online he believed to be 13-years-old.
Sex Crimes Squad detectives arrested the man, 46, following a Strike Force Trawler investigation.
Strike Force Trawler is an ongoing investigation by Sex Crimes Squad’s Child Exploitation internet Unit (CEIU) into the sexual abuse and exploitation of children online.
Detectives began an investigation into the man after he was allegedly chatting with a person online who he believed was 13-years-old.
On Tuesday at about 6.40am, police stopped a car on Albany St, Coffs Harbour and arrested the driver.
He was taken to Coffs Harbour Police Station and charged with using a carriage service to groom a person under the age of 16 years for sex.
The man was refused bail and appeared before Coffs Harbour Local Court on Tuesday.
Investigations under Strike Force Trawler continue.
