A 36-year-old woman has died in hospital after a two-car smash on Sunday afternoon at a busy Coffs Harbour intersection.
About 12.20pm on Sunday, November 13, emergency services were called to the Pacific Highway, following reports a Nissan Pulsar and Hyundai Tucson had collided at the intersection of Park Beach Road.
The 36-year-old female driver of the Nissan was treated at the scene by NSW Ambulance paramedics before being flown from a nearby oval to Gold Coast Hospital in a serious condition.
Tragically her condition declined and she died in hospital on Tuesday.
An 11-year-old girl in the same vehicle was also treated at the scene and taken to Coffs Harbour Hospital, before being flown to John Hunter Hospital in a stable condition.
Two boys aged eight and 14 were also in the Nissan at the time. They were uninjured and taken to Coffs Harbour Hospital as a precaution.
The female driver of the Hyundai and her male passenger, both aged in their 70s, were uninjured and taken to Coffs Harbour Hospital as a precaution.
Local police are working with the Traffic and Highway Patrol Command and the Crash Investigation Unit to piece together what happened and as inquiries continue, police are urging any witnesses or anyone with dashcam footage to come forward.
