In a huge coup for local music-lovers, Paul Kelly has announced a series of shows on the north coast.
The Aria award-winning artist will be embarking on a 24-show tour of regional towns along the east coast and Coffs Harbour, Yamba and Forster have made the list.
The On The Road Again tour runs through July and August, visiting Club Forster on Wednesday August 11, The Hoey Moey on Thursday August 12 and Yamba Bowling Club on Saturday August 13.
Kelly, who was inducted into the ARIA hall of fame in 1997, will be joined by his long-time band who include celebrated artists Vika and Linda Bull, Bill McDonald, Peter Luscombe, Ash Naylor and Cameron Bruce.
Yamba Bowling Club marketing manager Blake Wolfe said the decision to host the revered singer-songwriter was a “no-brainer”, adding that the phones had been “ringing hot” since the announcement.
“He is a legend in the Australian music industry and I daresay it will be near sold out by the end of the week,” he said.
“When are you going to see someone like that in the area again?”
Kelly said the tour would mark his first public performances more than a year as “show after show” had to be postponed and then cancelled because of the pandemic.
“The band and crew and I have really missed each other over the last 18 months … but now we’re really looking forward to stretching out and playing music night after night,” Kelly said.
“We want to see the whites of your eyes, you lovers of sound, joy and fury; we want to charge the air around us and change each other and send you home singing into the night.”
