One of the most important appointments on The Shoreline development has been made, with the head of the 120-bed aged care facility being named this week.
Owen Lednor has been confirmed as director of care of the brand new facility which is slated to open in the middle of 2022.
The Shoreline is the biggest private development in Coffs Harbour’s history and will also feature 74 luxury independent living apartments as well as a resort style community centre and pool.
There are also plans to build a four-storey apartment complex to house frontline staff on nearby Arthur St.
Mr Lednor said it was humbling to be able to help develop its culture from scratch.
He said to work on a program of care with no legacy processes and systems in place was one of its biggest drawcards.
“As we have seen in the royal commission (into aged care) there is a need for a reform within aged care, so this is an opportunity to be a part of that reform from the start,” he said.
“It’s huge – the ability to set the tone right from the start.”
In March Brett Kelly was announced as The Shoreline’s general manager and the appointment of Mr Lednor is another step in site developer Bachrach Naumburger Group’s vision to become a “state of the art” retirement facility.
Mr Lednor has extensive background in the aged care industry, having worked with Nambucca Valley Care in a number of management and clinical care roles.
“This industry is not only extremely interesting, but the people we deliver care for are from such fascinating and diverse backgrounds,” he said.
“I see so many people who work in aged care providing incredible levels of care, and I look forward to this role, as I get the chance to celebrate those excellent individuals through developing a high-quality and exciting model of care that support both our residents and our staff.”
The organisation is already seeking expressions of interest for all types of roles within the facility, including clinical, care, hospitality, housekeeping, maintenance and administration. They can be submitted to hr@bngproperty.com.au.
