Keagan Elder's good news story about the Coffs Harbour City Council's financial status (CCA, Nov 30) could auger well for ratepayers and others as we approach another year.
I would like to see council rates reduced to a more realistic level. Also a reduction in the cost of water to water carters, which jumped a disgusting (and mainly unwarranted) 66% in one fell swoop last year, which would then take some pressure off those of us who rely on rainfall for our supply.
Particularly in light of the prediction that we are in for a hot, dry summer.
Yes we've chosen to live on farms or acreage but our use of council services is pretty much limited to waste collection and some road maintenance and signage.
Perhaps councillors could have a think about these things over Christmas.
Merry Christmas and happy New Year to all. Stay safe so you can enjoy another year here in a relative paradise.
