Coffs Coast has a sporting chance

AS FOOTY fever draws to a close with the finals close at hand, the Coffs Coast has it’s own major sporting events in it’s sights.

AS FOOTY fever draws to a close with the finals close at hand, the Coffs Coast has it's own major sporting events in it's sights.

The FFA National Youth Championships for Boys kicks off next week followed shortly after by the Woopi Tri Festival and then one of the biggest national events for our town, the OzTag Junior National Championships, which books out the entire town and injects a huge amount of money into our local economy.

These events not only contribute to the economy with accommodation sales but with local attraction visitation, retail sales, food purchases, restaurants, fuel sales and much more.

These events also introduce our beautiful location to a large number of families who often return for holidays and sometimes even decide to stay and live here.

The Coffs Coast is also the location for a number of international events, but none quite as impressive as the second biggest motorsport event in the world, The World Rally Championship, which was moved to November this year and will run from the 17th to the 20th.

There are also a large amount of sporting events scheduled for the 2017 calendar year including the Touch Football Australia National Touch League in March and the first ever fully-fledged Westfield W-League/Hyundai A-League double header in Coffs Harbour in January 2017.

All of these events make a massive impact on our economy and their success is the responsibility of each and every one of us as a community. There is a lot we can do to ensure that these great events continue to return to our beautiful city including:

·         Attending the events ourselves.

·         Promoting them to family and friends via social media.

·         Acknowledging the participants when you see them in your business or within our community.

·         Ensuring that we are providing a high standard of products and services and that we are ready for the increased visitation.

A great way to keep up to date with events on the Coffs Coast is to visit coffscoast.com.au or download the Coffs Coast app.
