Missing teenager Jacob Partridge: Mum Liza addresses care packages, disappearance rumours

The mother of missing teenager Jacob Partridge has revealed the heart-wrenching reason care packages are being tied to trees in northern NSW bushland as she addresses rumours about her son’s disappearance.

Why missing teen's family is leaving packages on trees

The family of a missing northern NSW teenager has taken to tying care packages to trees, leaving muesli bars, bottles of water and more in the bush in case he is out there.

A month after Jacob Partridge vanished, having last been seen at Emerald Beach about 11pm on December 6, mother Liza Partridge has not given up hope of finding her son.

His 18th birthday and Christmas Day have come and gone as his family, supported by a massive community search effort, desperately tries to track him down.

Ms Partridge recently took to Facebook to address some of the rumours surrounding her son’s mysterious disappearance as she walked through bushland checking on the care packages, which also bear messages of love and urge Jacob to come home.

“Nothing’s been touched,” she said.

His disappearance has led to intense speculation with reports he was last seen running towards the water.

In the days following Jacob’s disappearance, Marine Rescue NSW played an integral role in a multi-agency land, sea and air search.

“There was no confirmed sighting of him running towards the beach and the water, so we are just out here searching every possible avenue,” Ms Partridge said in her recent video.

“The story is that the last place he was seen was at the reserve at Emerald Beach.

“He was running towards a little track that heads to the north.”

The track heads towards a creek and dog beach.

Ms Partridge said even if the reports that her son was running towards the water were true, she would still be holding on to hope.

Jacob’s dad, who has also been working tirelessly to find any trace of the teenager, made a brief appearance in the video, walking behind Ms Partridge.

He returns to work on Monday and she is unsure how this will impact the search effort.

“We will just keep on keeping on,” Ms Partridge said.

She has thanked everyone who has been involved both physically, during several organised search parties, and online by liking and sharing the “Find Jacob Partridge” Facebook page.

“We’ve got nearly 5000 followers now and we’d like some more,” Ms Partridge said.

Jacob has two brothers, the youngest of whom is learning how to fly a drone to help in the search.

Police also regularly touch base with the family, advising them on the outcomes of leads that have come in via Crime Stoppers.

Originally from Newcastle, the Partridges have settled in Emerald Beach, where their children have grown up, and have been embraced by the tight-knit community.
