Man charged with string of offences after police foot pursuit in Coffs Harbour

A 33-year-old man has been charged with a string of offences after allegedly fleeing from police and entering a home on Albany St, striking fear into a woman inside.

A 33-year-old man has been charged after fleeing from police through a school and into a home, frightening the occupants.

A spokesman from NSW Police said at about 11.30am on Wednesday Coffs/Clarence officers were patrolling a street in Sawtell when they attempted to speak to a man in relation to domestic violence matters.

Police allege the man ran before fleeing the scene in a car and stopping at a school on Harbour Drive, Coffs Harbour.

Police have been told the man ran through the school before entering a home on Albany Street.

The occupants were home at the time. It is understood they were frightened by the incident but uninjured.

The man exited the house a short time later and police pursued him on foot. Police will further allege he spat at an officer during his arrest nearby.

He was taken to Coffs Harbour Police Station, where he was charged with stalk/intimidate intend fear physical; goods suspected stolen in/on premises; contravene prohibition/restriction in AVO; goods suspected stolen in/on premises, enter prescribed premises of any person without lawful excuse; break and enter etc do indictable offence.

A large number of police were seen responding to the incident, including several unmarked police cars.
