Man, 32, charged after 32kg of cannabis, loaded gun allegedly found following Pacific Hwy, North Boambee crash

A South Australian man has been hit with drug supply and firearm charges after a crash on the Pacific Highway at North Boambee.

Emergency services were called to the highway at midnight on Monday following reports of a single-vehicle crash.

Coffs/Clarence Police District officers found a damaged and unattended Volkswagen Passat.

It’s alleged ammunition, 32 kilograms of cannabis and a gun were found nearby by officers.

All items were seized to undergo forensic examination.

A 32-year-old man was found uninjured nearby and police allege he had been behind the wheel of the VW.

Nikoll Maksuti was arrested and taken to Coffs Harbour Police Station.

Maksuti has been charged with supplying a commercial quantity of a prohibited drug, possessing a shortened firearm without authority, possessing a loaded firearm in public, possessing ammunition without licence/permit/authority and recklessly dealing with proceeds of crime.

Magistrate Imad Abdul-Karim refused Maksuti bail.

His case has been adjourned to Coffs Harbour Local Court on December 12.
