A young Coffs Coast man has faced court after a backyard stoush at Armidale and a frenzied attack on a pub manager at Moonee Beach.

Toormina’s Les Ahoy, 24, pleaded guilty to a raft of charges stemming from the two incidents when he faced Coffs Harbour Local Court on Wednesday.

Ahoy walked into the Moonee Beach Hotel shortly after midnight on July 2 and drank four Vodka Redbulls over a two-hour period, police state in court documents.

The unemployed man returned to the bar, but was refused service due to signs of intoxication and asked to leave.

Ahoy became argumentative and the manager held an exit door open for him – but Ahoy punched the staffer in the head.

He wrestled with the manager and continued to throw hands before a security guard intervened, according to the documents.

Police state: “When the victim stood up, he noticed he was severely bleeding.”

The manager suffered a deep, one centimetre long cut to the side of his eye.

Ahoy later told police: “He got smart and that was it and when we got escorted out I clicked and I turned on him and I swung and that was it.”

The incident followed a backyard neighbour dispute at Armidale on December 11 last year.

As matters escalated between two parties, Ahoy threw several bottles of Great Northern beer over the fence.

One bottle smashed a vehicle’s windscreen, while another caused a minor cut to the forearm of a man who raised his arms to shield himself from the missile.

Ahoy made “several threats towards both victims”, telling them he was going to “stab them” and “burn down (the neighbour’s) caravan with him inside it”, the documents state.

He was convicted of two counts of assault occasioning actual bodily harm and one count each of stalking/intimidating, and destroying or damaging property.

Magistrate Imad Abdul-Karim sentenced Ahoy to a 15-month community correction order with 100 hours of community service.
