Ivy Rose Doyle in Coffs Harbour court on assault, taking car

“That’s the day after my birthday,” she yelled when the hearing date was set for allegations she assaulted a person, took their car and then injured them with the vehicle.

A young Coffs Harbour woman swore and yelled out during her brief court appearance in Coffs Harbour Local Court on Tuesday, August 30.

Ivy Rose Doyle appeared via audiovisual link from Silverwater Jail where she has been remanded in custody.

The 20-year-old is facing charges of assaulting another person with intent to take a motor vehicle (a green Mitsubishi Lancer) and, without having the consent of that owner, took and drove it intentionally or recklessly inflicting actual bodily harm on the owner.

Doyle has pleaded not guilty.

The offence is alleged to have occurred between 5.30pm on June 12 and 7.15pm on June 13 in Coffs Harbour.

Doyle was arrested and refused bail on June 16 due to her criminal history and the serious nature of the alleged offence.

Court documents from the time state she had no fixed address.

Magistrate Ian Rodgers adjourned the matter for hearing on February 16, 2023.

Doyle responded, asking “what was the outcome?”, with Mr Rodgers explaining again that she had entered a not guilty plea and the matter was adjourned.

She swore and yelled “that’s the day after my birthday, can I make another date ?” after which the audiovisual link was switched off.
