NEW entranceway signage welcoming visitors to the Jetty Foreshores has been unveiled as part of a $1.1-million facelift of the beachfront reserve.

NEW entranceway signage welcoming visitors to the Jetty Foreshores has been unveiled as part of a $1.1-million facelift of the beachfront reserve.

The new sign on the Jordan Esplanade roundabout is part of the Coffs Harbour City Council's moves to renew and revitalise one of the city's most popular family and visitor destinations.

"The reserve is one of the best used parts of the Jetty Foreshores and provides a great venue for family and friends to catch up, celebrate a birthday or just enjoy a barbecue,"; Coffs Harbour deputy mayor Denise Knight said.

"As well as being a magnet for visitors throughout the year, the harbour area is also going to be one of the top World Rally Championship venues with a super special stage being run nightly.

"By carrying out this work before the rally, we offer a great impression to the huge numbers of visitors who will be here for the event, plus the massive television audience who will be watching worldwide.

"And we're giving the area an update that will, I'm sure, see it become an even more popular place for people of all ages and interests to enjoy in the future.";

The entrance way improvements include the planting of new Norfolk Island pines and pandanus, new ironbark timber bollards, and a large feature entrance sign welcoming visitors to the Jetty Foreshores.

The 4.5 metre sign features the word 'Giinagay' - 'welcome' in the Gumbaynggirr language.
