Four people hospitalised during Transmoto dirt bike race near Coffs Harbour

Four people were taken to hospital, two by helicopter, following multiple crashes at a race west of Coffs Harbour

Four men have been taken to hospital following crashes at a motorcycle event west of Coffs Harbour on Sunday.

NSW Ambulance officers responded to four jobs at the Transmoto 8-Hour endurance race in Ulong, including one in which a man suffered a serious laceration causing a possible arterial bleed.

The 27-year-old man was flown by Westpac Rescue helicopter to Lismore Base Hospital in a serious but stable condition after the crash which occurred about 11.30am

Earlier, a man in his 30s was transported to Coffs Harbour hospital with a suspected fractured shoulder.

Then between 2pm and 3pm ambulance officers were tasked to two other jobs, one, involving a man in his 50s with an arm injury and the other a 39-year-old man an abdominal injury. 

After NSW Ambulance paramedics stabilised the 39-year-old, the the Westpac Rescue Helicopter was called back to the rural property and he was flown to Lismore Hospital. 

The Transmoto 8-Hour is an endurance dirt bike race has become wildly popular since it began in 2019.

The event is billed as “somewhere between a recreational trail bike rally and an enduro race” and all 600 entries to this year’s event were snapped up in just 30 minutes according to race organisers.
