FIREFIGHTERS from the Coffs Coast have braved record February heat to save properties being burnt to the ground near Dongdingalong, south of Kempsey.
One house has been lost to fire, but countless others saved despite a strong southerly change blowing the fire back onto itself overnight.
The fire today remains out of control, the NSW RFS advised.
The bushfire has burnt out 453-hectares of bushland.
Given the hardfought containment effort at the weekend, Advocate readers have rightfully recognised the efforts of Rural Fire Service volunteers with a few thumbs up.
