Fatal single vehicle crash at Eungai Rail, near Macksville

A man is dead and two people have been taken to hospital after a shocking highway crash south of Coffs Harbour. Here’s what we know.

A man is dead and two people have been taken to hospital after a horrific crash south of Coffs Harbour on Friday morning.

The single-vehicle smash happened on the Pacific Highway at Eungai Rail about 20km south of Macksville shortly after 10 o’clock.

Despite the efforts of NSW Ambulance paramedics, the rear passenger in the vehicle died at the scene.

He is yet to be formally identified, but is believed to be aged in his 70s.

They were taken to Coffs Harbour Hospital, and the driver will undergo mandatory testing.

Officers from Mid-North Coast Police District and the Crash Investigation Unit have begun inquiries into the circumstances surrounding the crash.
