Dylan Douglas sentenced for Nambucca Heads intimidation

A western NSW man who made a vile threat to his ex at her north coast home and smashed through her front door had lost his temper over a faulty gaming console, a court has heard.

Dylan Douglas, 28, was sentenced for intimidation at Dubbo Local Court in January 2023.

A western NSW service station attendant told his ex he would kill her during a tantrum over a faulty gaming console at her north coast home, a court has heard.

Dylan Douglas, 28, pleaded guilty to intimidation at Dubbo Local Court in relation to his vile behaviour at a woman’s Nambucca Heads home on August 19 last year.

Agreed police facts tendered to the court reveal the woman left Douglas to go to the shops, and discovered him in a foul mood when she returned.

“The victim immediately observed the accused’s behaviour and mood had changed and he was aggressive and argumentative,” police facts state.

“The accused was trying to play an electronic game (with someone) and could not get the machine to work.”

Police say the faulty gaming console caused Douglas to go into a “violent rage”.

“He began screaming, yelling and abusing the victim,” police facts state.

“The accused yelled at the victim ‘I’ll f**king kill you’.”

The woman then called the police, prompting Douglas to begin gathering his belongings.

Police facts state he lifted a couch up and tipped it over and threw the woman’s laptop down a set of stairs when he was initially unable to locate his phone.

When the woman then locked him out of the home, he kicked the door jamb until it completely split from the house and re-entered the premises.

At Dubbo Local Court on January 18, Magistrate Gary Wilson convicted Douglas and sentenced him to a 12-month community correction order without supervision.

Douglas will have to abstain from alcohol for the full term of the order.
