DRAG queens are being brought in as the latest weapon to fight high rise on the Sunshine Coast.
The Sunshine Coast Environment Council is selling tickets for Drag Queen Bingo as part of the campaign to save Yaroomba, south of Noosa, from inappropriate development.
Environmentalists are promising a night of 'raucous laughter' featuring "Melony Brests and her dazzling side kick Sall Monalla". It follows a sell-out event last year.
"This is an 18+ event with humour that some may find challenging,'' the event listing warns.
The fundraiser comes as community groups, the Sunshine Coast Environment Council and Development Watch, have taken developer Sekisui to court contest the controversial approval of a mass development at beautiful Yaroomba.
A $50,000 target has been set with more than $15,000 already raised.
Opponents of the project say the mass development has "major conflicts with the town plan which is meant to protect the Coast from inappropriate development like this".
Sunshine Coast Council last June approved the Sekisui House resort, shopping and residential development despite 9288 submissions of objection to 2998 in favour.
A hearing has pencilled in a November hearing at the Maroochydore Planning and Environment Court for the appeal which was lodged last November.
Opponents of the project are expected to call expert witness on economic need, urban planning, visual amenity and endangered turtle protection.

The $25 a ticket event, which aims to help save Coolum's turtles, is being held at the Coolum Civic Centre on Friday, November 1. Doors will open at 6.30pm with the first ball dropping at 7.30pm.

Drinks: Beer, wine, bubbly and soft drink will be available for purchase on the night.
A Mexican meal will be available for $12 with the proceeds going to Friends of Yaroomba and the United To Save Yaroomba campaign.
