David Paul Edgecock on child abuse material charge at Coffs court

A man used the same sex chat line as disgraced former rugby league star Brett Finch to discuss sickening child sex fantasies. Warning: DISTURBING CONTENT

What happens when you are charged with a crime?

A sickening audio log containing horror child sex fantasies has been revealed in the court case of a man who used the same sex chat line as an ex-NRL star.

David Paul Edgecock, 44, pleaded guilty in Coffs Harbour District Court to using a carriage service to access child abuse material and using a carriage service to distribute child abuse material.

Edgecock used a gay chatline called ‘Fastmeet’ to share violent underage sexual fantasies.

The chatline is the same one used by one-time NRL star Brett Finch, who recently pleaded guilty to one count of using a carriage service to make available child abuse material. There was no evidence before the court that the two men knew each other.

Edgecock and Finch were among seven men arrested by detectives attached to Strike Force Hank, which was set up by police last year to investigate an adult telephone service that was allegedly used by men to disseminate and discuss child abuse material.

It comes after a major police investigation was launched following the arrest of a convicted paedophile who was using the same chatline.

Call logs detail a call operator - who was later sentenced - fantasised with Edgecock about grotesque and violent sex acts on minors.

“The younger the better,” Edgecock told the operator on the phone, according to police facts.

“She is f**king screaming but we don't care,” Edgecock said to the operator.

The court was told Edgecock also accessed an audio file from a website which described a 12-year-old girl being violently kidnapped and sexually abused.

The narrator fantasised performing and receiving oral sex from the child while the child was being abused by another man, court documents stated.

The audio file also described the child’s breasts and genitalia while she is described as crying out for help.

Police raided Edgecock’s home under a search warrant and placed him under arrest.

Police body cam audio captured Edgecock claiming: “It’s just fantasy stuff, nothing is real”.

Police facts reveal Edgecock told police he “vaguely” remembered the conversation where he fantasised about abusing a baby and he “wasn't talking about anyone particular – it was general conversation”.

He said he was unaware what he was doing was illegal and was “just something to get off” on.

Edgecock will appear in court on November 28 for sentence.

He remains on bail.
