STUDIES and negotiations on the future of land owned by Coffs Harbour City Council in the central business district are the topics of a report to councillors at tonight's council meeting.

The council is a substantial CBD landowner, with sites in Castle St, Gordon St, Moonee St, Lyster St, Park Ave and Duke St.

In April the council allocated $30,000 for a commercial study of its land holdings in order to gain the maximum benefit from them in the future.

On June 9 the councillors resolved to allocate funds to assist with the development of a landowners' master plan for the CBD and asked for a report and briefing to clarify direction on council-owned lands in the CBD and the amounts and level of commitment from outside interests. After discussions with the Uniting Church, C.ex Coffs and the potential future owner of Palms Shopping, this trio has agreed to contribute $100,000 towards the landowners' master plan.

Council officers have also been investigating a possible future CBD location for the city's 400 State Government employees.
