Council has taken delivery of the finalised development application for the addition of a Myer outlet at Park Beach Plaza.

The owners of the Plaza, the Bachrach Naumburger Group (BNG), originally lodged a DA last December but at council’s request went back to the drawing board to address a number of issues.

BNG general manager Steve Gooley said specialist consultants and local engineering and town planning group De Groot and Benson had input into the finalised DA which includes multi-deck parking and additional specialty retail space.

An economic impact report highlights the long-term employment of about 500 people once the extensions are complete, a further 300 jobs during the construction period and 479 jobs resulting from supplier induced multiplier effects.

It is estimated the additional employment opportunities will generate $15.9 million in salaries.

Mr Gooley said the Vote Yes For Myer online petition was supported by more than 5000 people.
