1. Cartoon Workshops with Sandwich Bag Dad
What: This dad’s morning ritual of drawing on his 3 daughter’s lunch-bags has been the highlight of the school day for teachers and students at his local school for 8 years (and counting). Recently, via Instagram, this quirky tradition has also been found to be entertaining 1,000’s of families across the world.
Dave Blumenthal, aka The Sandwich-bag dad, is hosting a workshop for all ages as his exhibition kicks off.

2. Allan Lovell’s ‘In Search of an Ending’
What: Allan Lovell’s ‘In Search of an Ending’, is a deeply personal and funny one-person show. It is storytelling at its best, spiced with wit, tenderness, social observation, and intimacy. A big-hearted show about the big issues of getting old, dealing with ageing parents, escaping the city; all the things there are no playbooks for.
This free event is part of the Seniors Week Festivities organised by the Coffs Harbour City Council – book in here to reserve your seat now.

3. Bellingen Community Markets
What: For over 35 years Bellingen Community Markets is abuzz every third Saturday of the month. The event showcases more than 260 diverse and colourful stalls, from local artisans, creators, producers, growers and recyclers, alternative therapies, massage and scrumptious food.
Where: Bellingen Park.
When: Saturday, April 17 from 8am-2.30pm.
4. Oldies Big Day Out at Harbourside Markets
What: Coffs Harbour City Council and Harbourside Markets are presenting a joint celebration as part of the regions NSW Seniors Festival. The ‘Oldies Big Day Out’ is a market day event celebrating the joy and wisdom of age, with fun, entertainment and workshops with a senior focus.
The day will include a parade, free ukulele workshop, an open-mic, fashion parade, wellbeing activities including exercise workshops, and more. It will run in conjunction with the regular offerings at Harbourside Markets.

5. Margaret Fulton – The Musical
What: As Australia’s first culinary queen, Margaret Fulton long reigned supreme in the country’s kitchens as she taught a growing nation how to cook. Based on her best-selling autobiography I Sang for My Supper: Memories of a Food Writer, Margaret Fulton The Musical brings her inspiring true story to the stage.
Charting Fulton’s rise from home cook to a household name in the swinging sixties, this playful musical comedy celebrates Australia’s coming of age through the lens of this wise trailblazing woman of the world.
Where: Jetty Memorial Theatre.

6. Nextwave Youth Film Awards
What: Australia’s largest regional youth film celebration is at home again on the Coffs Coast! One of the most highly attended events at SWIFF, the Nextwave Youth Film Awards showcases, recognises, and awards young regional filmmakers from across the country.
Walk the red carpet, snap a pic with the festival photographer, and enjoy a live musical performance as a part of the family event. Food and drinks will be available for purchase before and after the event, and there’ll be free popcorn on arrival.

7. Music is ‘In our Nature’ – Coffs Orchestra in the Gardens
What: Join the Coffs Harbour City Orchestra for a morning of music in the gardens. With movie favourites, an ANZAC homage and even some bright Beethoven, there will be something for all.
This is a 2021 seniors week event however all ages are welcome.
Where: North Coast Botanic Garden.
When: Sunday, April 18 from 10am.
8. Sunday Session with Richie Williams
What: Singer and guitarist Richie Williams is fast making a name for himself on the Australian east coast.
Originally from Sydney now based in Northern NSW, Richie’s captivating melodies and quirky heartfelt lyrics drives his original sound, blending funk based soul with acoustic grooves.
Where: Hoey Moey.
When: Sunday, April 18 from 12.30pm.
9. Screenwave International Film Festival
What: Northern NSW’s premier film festival SWIFF is in full swing for 2021. The 16-day festival includes over 60 different feature films to explore, plus live music, gala events, filmmaker meet-ups, premieres and much more.
There are countless titles screening this week. Check out the calendar and buy your tickets here.

When: Festival finishes up on April 29.
10. An Enchanted Easter exhibition and pop-up – last week
What: Alykat Creative Gallery & Studio is showing a group exhibition and pop-up with inspiring and playful artwork, providing a fun and unique experience for the whole family.
An Enchanted Easter is a wonderland of whimsical artwork from Coffs Coast artists with a collection of original artwork, prints, cards, kids wear, homewares and rare finds from local makers. The project has been proudly supported by Arts Mid North Coast SHINE through Create NSW Art Restart Program.
Where: Alykat Creative Gallery & Studio. Entrance via Park Ave Ln, Coffs Harbour.
When: Tuesdays-Saturdays from 10am-4pm. Runs until April 24.
