A new seniors housing project is on the cards for Coffs Harbour after council voted unanimously to adopt the developer’s mitigation of various noncompliance issues.

The development application (DA) has been lodged for a seven-storey seniors housing project at 16 Prince St, on the corner of Hogbin Dr.

Developers have pitched 25 independent living units, a communal space and parking, as well as facilities including a gym, pool and external terraces.

City of Coffs Harbour discussed the project pitched by WPP Pty Ltd at a council meeting on Thursday.

The main issues considered were variations to building envelope noncompliance and a request to vary the development standard for exceeding building heights.

Currently, the proposed site of the project hosts tourist and visitor accommodation via seven single-storey units. They are due to demolished if the DA gets the tick.
