The Coffs Coast is set for a financial and publicity windfall with the announcement that it will host the Australian Women’s Classic golf tournament for the next three years.

The classic will attract some of the nation’s and the world’s finest players chasing a half-a-million dollar pot.

Supporters, coaches and fans will also make a beeline for the acclaimed Bonville course which has secured staging rights for 2024, ’25 and ’26.

City of Coffs Harbour general manager Natalia Cowley understands the significance of the event coming as it does against a backdrop of unprecedented interest in female sport.

This has been stoked by the success of the Matildas at the women’s football World Cup, plus recent glory for the Australian female cricketers and netballers.

“Golf lovers of all ages will converge on Coffs Harbour to see their favourite players in action, while at the same time staying at our local accommodation houses and visiting our restaurants, pubs, clubs, cafes, shops and local tourist attractions,” Mr Singh said.

“This major coup is exciting news for the Coffs Coast, further cementing our reputation as a destination of first choice for visitors and the elite sports stars they love.”

The Bonville course is one of the finest on the Mid North Coast, and along with Coffs Harbour and the Nambucca Island layout, they are major players in the lucrative market of golf tourism.

“We are thrilled to continue the tradition of the Australian Women’s Classic Bonville and to showcase to the world the beauty of Bonville that is enjoyed by thousands of guests who stay and play here annually,” Coastal & Golf Resorts Group general manager Brad Daymond said.
