It was a postcard perfect Boxing Day as locals and visitors alike flocked to the landmark Coffs Harbour Jetty.
While Park Beach Plaza shopping centre was heaving by those chasing post-Christmas sales, or aircon, the Jetty precinct was the place to be for the great outdoors.
The strong of heart jetty jumpers were in full swing while the long pier was a magnet for anglers and those just chasing a stroll with panoramic views of a fantastic regional city and shoreline.
Wildlife got in on the act as seagulls did their wadey-thing after a big fried chip lunch at the nearby Fishermen’s Co-op, and turtles delighted as they swam to the surface.
In the fabled tongue-twister Anna-may Leon from the Seychelles was by the seashore - and keen to lap up an Instagram-worthy capture.
Down the end of the jetty were the McKay boys who’d come down from the cold country at Armidale.
But Daniel and Daneil stood apart as they fished - as McKay senior sported a Dragons shirt and his son a pair of Broncos shorts.
Things just haven’t been the same between the two NRL clubs since the 1992-93 unpleasantness when Alfie Langer sang ‘St George can’t play’ in the grand final wash-up.
All at the jetty though had a rollicking good time, as families enjoyed the beaches and sailboats far from Sydney and Hobart wheeled about in the light Boxing Day breeze.
Clint Wall spoke for many when he said it’s “nice to be home” after working away in the mines at Muswellbrook.
Light on words but stealing the show was the Shih tzu cross poodle with the triple-banger name: Nutmeg Cinnamon Coffee.
