Coffs armed robbery, knife allegedly used to hold-up ride-share driver

The dog unit was called in, and later police went to a unit to speak to a man who resisted, before being arrested and charged. He will face Coffs Harbour court today.

A 24-year-old man will appear in Coffs Harbour Local Court on Wednesday, September 7, to face charges in relation to an alleged armed hold-up.

Just before 8pm on Tuesday, September 6, police were called to Edinburgh Street, Coffs Harbour, after reports of an armed robbery.

Police were told a man armed with a knife threatened a ride-share driver before he fled the scene with cash.

The driver was not injured during the incident.

Officers from Coffs-Clarence Police District established a crime scene, and with the assistance of the dog unit, began a search of the surrounding area.

Following inquiries, police attended a unit on Harbour Drive, Coffs Harbour, and spoke to a 24-year-old.

The man briefly resisted police before he was arrested and taken to Coffs Harbour Police Station.

He was charged with robbery armed with a serious weapon and resist officer in execution of duty (three counts).

The Boambee East man was refused bail to appear at Coffs Harbour Local Court.
