CELEBRITY chef Colin Fassnidge has proven his good guy image helping the CanDo Cancer Trust to put on a seven-course degustation to raise $20,000 for local cancer patients.

Better still chef Fassnidge of My Kitchen Rules fame also mentored TAFE cookery class students at Osprey Restaurant.

"This is the 10th year of Cando - the Coffs Coast's only local cancer charity," organiser Julie Jardine said.

"We have assisted more than 1000 local cancer patients and donated over $500,000 to assist with the financial burden imposed by cancer. We are so thrilled about the success of this inaugural degustation."

From the freshest kingfish sashimi, though to Colin's signature white chocolate sandwich, guests were treated to seven delicious courses with matching wines, beers and signature 'blueberry' cocktail.

Overall the menu showcased food and beverages from more than 25 different Coffs Coast producers.

The Hilltop Store's award-winning chef duo, Carla Jones and Richie Dolan, guided TAFE cookery students over several days of preparation, and a large team of students and teachers from hospitality, events and beauty sections came together to create a wonderful experience on the night.

"The Cando committee would like to give our heartfelt thanks to the many individuals and sponsors who made this 'night of nights' possible including TAFE NSW, Coffs Coast Harvest (Coffs Harbour City Council), The Hilltop Store, ANZ, The Coffs Coast Advocate and the Observatory Holiday Apartments," Julie said.
