The 21-year-old showed no emotion when bail was revoked after a fresh set of allegations involving a teenager were outlined in court on Tuesday, June 16.

Braiden Troy Spalding had been remanded in custody in relation to the two new allegations and appeared via audio visual link in Coffs Harbour Local Court.

He sat calmly as the court heard of the fresh set of charges – assault occasioning actual bodily harm and intentionally choke.

According to police documents tendered to court the alleged victim turned 16, just 37 days prior to Mr Spalding meeting her on March 15 this year.

He was remanded in custody in relation to the assault occasioning actual bodily harm matter, alleged to have occurred on June 13, and the intentionally choke matter alleged to have occurred on May 26 and appeared in court via audiovisual link on Tuesday (June 16).

Mr Spalding‘s lawyer told the court his client “denies totally” the allegations and that the alleged victim had been drinking and his client told her to stop and she refused and a verbal argument ensued.

His lawyer described it as a “reasonably weak case” and that the young woman has a history of self harm.

The police prosecutor said there were photos showing red marks on the alleged victim’s neck.

The police prosecutor told the court that Mr Spalding was already on bail for serious charges involving a teenage girl.

“In my submission they are not totally unrelated,” she said.

Mr Spalding had been granted Supreme Court bail on February 16 on a separate set of charges involving a separate alleged teenage victim. He has pleaded not guilty to these charges, alleged to have occurred on September 28, 2021.

He is facing four counts of ‘have sexual intercourse with a child (older than 14 and younger than 16)’ and one charge of ‘intentionally sexually touch child (older than 10 years and younger than 16 )’.

Magistrate Ian Rodgers revoked his previous bail and refused bail moving forward.

His matters will return to court on December 5.
