TWO of Australia's largest independent, not-for-profit aged care providers will merge into a single organisation.
By combining, RSL Care and Royal District Nursing Service aim to create one stronger agency to continue providing aged care services, including home nursing support, retirement living and residential care.
"The boards have identified this opportunity to create one trusted organisation enabling us to leverage our combined scale and experience," RSL Care board chairman Pat McIntosh said.
"Working together we can deliver more health and well-being services for more Australians than we could possibly provide alone," Mr McIntosh said.
RDNS board chairman Paul Montgomery said: "Australia's health and aged care sectors are experiencing unprecedented change.
"The move to consumer-directed care, advances in technology, and the demands of an ageing population are transforming the landscape," Mr Montgomery said.
He said the merger would maintain continuity of services for clients, and stability for employees.
