60-year-old rider trapped under bike dead on treacherous mountain road west of Coffs Harbour

A motorbike rider, aged in his 60s, has been found trapped under his bike on a dangerous mountain road west of Coffs Harbour and died at the scene. Here’s what we know.

A motorbike rider, believed to be in his 60s, has been found trapped under his crashed motorbike on a dangerous mountain road west of Coffs Harbour and died at the scene.

A passerby found the unidentified rider a metre off the Eastern Dorrigo Way at Lowanna on Sunday.

Emergency services responded shortly before 3.30pm but unfortunately the man died at the scene.

The Eastern Dorrigo Way is notorious for its perilous curves, sharp bends and steep drops as it winds its way from the Orara Valley up to the Eastern Dorrigo plateau villages of Lowanna and Ulong.

He is yet to be formally identified.

Police will prepare a report for the coroner.
