100+ Faces: Mega Coffs Coast Carols photo gallery
Christmas carols done right – Coffs Harbour-style. It was wall to wall festive fun from the moshpit for the kids to the kava bowl out back. Check out all the photos.
Coffs Harbour
Don't miss out on the headlines from Coffs Harbour. Followed categories will be added to My News.
Sing it and they will come, as a heaving, snuggled crowd numbering in the hundreds packed Brelsford Park for the Coffs Coast Carols.
Families hunkered down on blankets as unwelcome overstayer La Nina blasted Coffs Harbour with a wind too cool for the locals on Saturday.
But there was no curbing the fun, as openers Woolgoolga Performing Arts Choir warmed the crowd.
Coffs radio presenter Michael ‘Moffee’ Moffett emceed the gig and was in full swing until someone chirped that it was his 40th birthday.
He never lost a step, though, and neither did Mayor Paul Amos, who has seen a near lifetime of Coffs carols.
This one was extra special, being the first since 2019 on the back of the Covid interruptions.
The community knew that – including the Fijian boys in the nosebleed seats out the back, who found a windbreak in some garbage wheely bins and joy in a bowl of kava.
The glee rippled from Brelsford to the neighbouring streets as a man outside Coles, who appeared to have had his share of festive sherbets, exclaimed “ah look at them all, singing and clapping”.
There were of course plenty dressed to theme – more Santas than you’d find at Westfield Parramatta.
And it was party time for the youngsters – as a roped-off area provided a moshpit for the little ones in front of the stage.
