When the left can't attack the budget on spending, they 'switch to identity politics'

It was a party to end all parties, with no less than “cocaine and hookers” on the menu. That was the description The Sauce was given of a gathering of a bunch of young political staffers and lobbying types last Sunday night.

The host? A young up-and-coming political type who is the relative of a well-known party figure.

Just what really went on in the eastern suburbs apartment is only known to those present but all sorts of stories were doing the political gossip rounds last week, including that the “hooker” was promptly ejected from the flat on the host’s partner flagging her impending arrival.

There was talk a “hooker” was ejected from a party with young political staffers.

The Sauce was given a “guest list” but is obviously not going to disclose those on it.

When we contacted the host last week however, the allegations were vehemently denied.

“They were just some after work drinks,” he said.

As for the “hooker”, the host said his girlfriend was in the apartment the entire time.

As the saying goes, “pics or it didn’t happen”.

GAME ON

There was not a Terry-towelling headband in sight when Energy and Environment Minister Matt Kean took on Liberal Senator Andrew Bragg in a game of Saturday afternoon squash.

Kean may have beaten Bragg but the exhilaration was short-lived with the Hornsby MP taken out by the younger and faster NSW Liberal state executive member Alex Dore.

“Squash was the winner,” Kean replied when asked who won, before highlighting the age difference with Dore.

The matches were organised by Squash Australia NSW director Peter Sinodinos who is — you guessed it — the brother of Arthur, a former Liberal senator turned Australia’s Ambassador.

The pollie play-off was held on World Squash Day, a movement dedicated to honour the game while boost numbers.

A separate match was held between Manly MP James Griffin and Australian Ironman champion Kendrick Louis with former world number 1 Michelle Martin offering tips on the sidelines.

The group are hoping to enlist NSW Finance Minister Damian Tudehope and Treasurer Josh Frydenberg who are said to be both be partial to a hit.
