Police have released CCTV images of a man they believe could assist with their inquiries into the brazen armed robbery of a jewellery store earlier this year.
According to police, a man was armed with a firearm and a crowbar when he walked into the jewellery store in Westfield Parramatta about 6pm on Tuesday, June 6, and threatened two female staff members.
He allegedly demanded cash and managed to steal jewellery and watches, before also threatening a third woman as she walked into the shop.
The investigation into the crime is being led by the Robbery and Serious Crime Squad, with its commander, Superintendent Andrew Koutsoufis, telling The Daily Telegraph it was one of boldest armed robberies he‘d seen in recent times.
“It‘s clearly a very brazen attack in a busy shopping centre and we’re hoping the community will be able to help us in our investigation here, because we’re very keen to catch up with this fellow,” Supt Koutsoufis said.
“It‘s a significant amount of jewellery that’s been taken and it would’ve had a significant impact on the shop and given the times at the minute, I really feel for the business, so we will do everything in our power to find this man.”
The man police wish to speak to is described as caucasian, about 180cm tall, with dark hair, small eyes and a slim build.
CCTV cameras captured the man as he walked from the carpark into the shopping centre.
He was wearing a black hooded-jumper, black pants, dark sunglasses, gloves and at times a black face mask.
The man can also be seen in the images carrying a black backpack.
Police are appealing for anyone with information, or who may have dashcam footage from the area at the time of the incident, to come forward.
