Police have released new CCTV footage in a renewed attempt to solve a $1 million silver bullion heist.
Between 4:30pm on November 26, 2021 and 8am on November 29, a consignment of silver was allegedly stolen from a freight truck in transit between Maldon, near Picton, and Melbourne, VIC.
The 192 silver bars, weighing five kilograms each, were loaded from a western Sydney warehouse into silver Krueger trailer pulled by a Kenworth truck, before the driver left for Melbourne with the $1.015m cargo.
It wasn’t until the truck reached its destination that the silver was discovered to be missing and police were informed.
The silver has yet to be found and no one has yet been arrested or charged, though Strike Force Caimon was formed to investigate the alleged theft.
Almost four months on, Strike Force Caimon detectives have released new CCTV footage of a dark-coloured Toyota Land Cruiser seen driving along Argyle St, Picton at 12:20am on November 28.
In the footage, the vehicle is seen travelling along before turning right in Picton’s CBD.
Officers have asked anyone who knows anything about the occupants of the Toyota or where the vehicle might have been to contact them immediately.
It comes after investigators first appealed for information on December 21 as to how the silver could go missing without anyone realising for three days.
