Carl Loxley charged after alleged DV attack on pregnant girlfriend Alana Beckers in Sydney
A man has been arrested hours after he allegedly attacked and ran over his pregnant girlfriend on a quiet Narellan Vale cul-de-sac.
A pregnant Sydney woman is fighting for life in hospital after she was allegedly attacked and run over by her boyfriend, who was released from prison just months ago.
Carl Loxley was arrested three hours after he allegedly attacked his partner Alana Beckers, 36, at their home in Madison Court, a quiet Narellan Vale cul-de-sac, on Wednesday morning.
Ms Beckers suffered life-threatening injuries after she was allegedly attacked by Loxley, in a violent argument which spilt from their home and onto the street around 8.30am.
The couple’s neighbour Pinthip Hayison saw the incident, saying “there was blood, she kept shouting, ‘help me, help me’,” he said.
“The neighbour next door called the police, I was so scared I’ve never seen anything like it and I’ve lived in the street for 15 years, it was like something straight out of a movie,” she added.
“She asked me to call the police, I called them straight away but the other neighbours were already running to her.
“She was in her pyjamas, I thought she was dead.”
Police allege the couple were arguing inside their home, where children were present, when Ms Beckers was first assaulted.
Detective Chief Inspector Paul Albury said prior to Wednesday, the couple had no history of domestic violence between them, however confirmed the man was known to police.
The senior cop described the incident as “horrendous”.
“Following the verbal argument it is alleged the male struck the TV then struck her to the head with a glass vase,” Det Ch Insp Albury told media.
“ … She ran to the front of the house seeking assistance, allegedly he got into a Mazda sedan, striking her and running over her.
“When police arrived … they were met with a pretty horrendous scene.
“There was a frantic search by police undertaken with significant resources … thankfully, we were able to arrest him within hours.”
It is alleged Loxley fled the scene in the Mazda.
Police and paramedics arrived shortly after, finding Ms Beckers with injuries to her face, pelvis as well as major internal wounds.
She was flown to Liverpool Hospital in a critical condition.
Loxley was arrested less than three hours later in a phone box near Camden Valley Way, was taken to Narellan Police Station for questioning before being charged with seven offences including reckless grievous bodily harm, grievous bodily harm by negligent act with a vehicle and common assault.
He was refused bail to appear at Campbelltown Local Court today (Thursday).
NSW Police have since taken an AVO out to protect Ms Beckers from Mr Loxley, also 36.
