A Tweed woman who threw a tantrum after missing a doctor’s appointment and trashed the waiting room of Ocean Shores Medical Centre has been ordered to pay damages.
Emily Louise Saris, 30, was sentenced at Byron Bay Court on Monday for common assault and recklessly damaging property.
She pleaded guilty to both charges.
Saris smashed a self-service check-in computer and verbally abused the doctor after she was told she missed her appointment on November 11 last year, court documents state.
“I’m not going anywhere until I receive my f---ing script,” the Tweed woman said..
She pushed over a computer monitor with enough force the receptionist had to put out her hands to prevent it from hitting her face and chest.
The receptionist took the rest of the day off due to the shock of the incident.
Police questioned Saris afterwards and she appeared “remorseful”, the documents state.
Saris told them “she was having the worst day of her life”.
The charges were dismissed on mental health grounds by Magistrate Karen Stafford under the condition that Saris seek mental health treatment.
Saris was ordered to pay $2500 in compensation to Ocean Shores Medical Centre to pay for the self check-in monitor she destroyed.
