Psychedelics, cannabis, coke, MDMA seized at Byron Bay Bluesfest
Thousands descended on Bluesfest over Easter to let their hair down and soak up the feel good live music vibes. But not everyone was feeling groovy, with cops seizing a variety of drugs. Here’s what they found.

Police seized a variety of drugs and issued infringements and court notices at the highly popular Byron Bay Bluesfest, held at Tyagarah, over the Easter long weekend.
Officers from the Tweed-Byron Police District were assisted by the Operations Support Group and Dog Squad from March 28 to April 1 at Tyagarah.
Police set up under gazebos outside the Bluesfest entry gates with attentive police dogs by their sides waiting to pick up any illicit scents.
Officers issued 22 cannabis cautions, 13 drug criminal infringement notices and four court attendance notices.
Drugs allegedly located and seized by police include cannabis, cocaine, MDMA and psilocybin.
Overall, police told the Byron Shire News they were happy with the behaviour of attendees at the festival.
Last year at Bluesfest, local restaurant owner of Shorty’s in Lennox Head Fraser Jones pleaded guilty at Byron Bay Local Court to possessing 0.67g of MDMA and 0.40g of cocaine and sentenced to a 12-month conditional release order without a conviction.
Queensland reveller Henri Luke Neil also pleaded guilty to failing to leave premises and hindering police, he was convicted and fined $1600.
