Kyle Armour cocaine supply case to include DNA evidence against Pottsville man

DNA evidence is outstanding in a case against a Tweed Coast man who police claim was found with $2 million worth of cocaine, a court has heard.

Kyle Armour, 24, from Pottsville, did not appear from jail when his case was mentioned in Byron Bay Local Court on Monday.

He is yet to lodge formal pleas to his charges of supplying a large commercial quantity of a prohibited drug, dealing with the proceeds of crime, speeding by more than 10km/h, drug possession and two counts of taking part in the supply of a small amount of a prohibited drug.

Mr Armour was arrested on June 1 this year after a traffic stop near Bangalow.

Police will allege they found 6.7kg of cocaine, worth more than $2 million, in the Nissan X-Trail Mr Armour was driving.

They will allege Mr Armour came to the attention of police because he was speeding on the Pacific Highway shortly before 3pm on the day of his arrest.

Magistrate Karen Stafford said Mr Armour’s lawyer had written to the court to say her office had not yet received a full brief of evidence.

Prosecutor Val Short said one item of evidence was yet to come.

“We’re just waiting on the DNA results,” Sergeant Short said.

The case was adjourned to September 27.
